Sadie + Noah’s October fall celebration was so uniquely THEM and unlike any wedding I had ever photographed before! Taking place in Sadie’s hometown of Johnstown, their celestial-themed day with DIY details looked stunning in the historic Grand Halle.
I started my day at Sadie’s parents house, which had some very cool historical architecture (fitting for the rest of the day!). Sadie, her bridesmaids, and her parents all had a low key, relaxing morning getting ready together. Her dress was AMAZING – the vintage-inspired lace details and high neck matched the day’s aesthetic perfectly. Also, can we take a second for her celestial moon hair clips?? Noah got ready with his groomsmen and dad at an AirBNB nearby, also donning celestial accessories.
Before heading to The Grand Halle, I took Sadie outside for a few solo portraits. She wanted some photos in front of this cool blue shed in her backyard, which was a WHOLE vibe. I couldn’t believe how well it worked on camera?! My second, Tori, took some quick portraits of Noah, showing off his incredible pinstriped vintage suit and Docs!
Once we arrived at the venue, it was time for their first look! We positioned Sadie + Noah at the altar for their ceremony, which was decorated with a giant wooden moon. This moon was painted by one of their friends and was a huge labor of love. S + N were both so overjoyed to finally be together! I had them frolic around the Halle for a few quick portraits and took advantage of the stunning stained glass and ornate ceilings inside.
When their wedding party arrived, we took a few fun group shots and split off into their respective sides. I absolutely loved how they mixed autumnal-colored florals with light blue outfits. It gave a light, fun vibe while also keeping to the vintage theme. While some couples may be put off by the slightly run down appearance of downtown Johnstown, Sadie + Noah were very into the industrial look around the venue. Bonus: when I took the bridesmaids for their group photos, we found a vibrant mural on the side of a building nearby! It was perfect.
Finally, it was time for the ceremony! Guests were seated, the pianist began to play, and I was still floored by the stunning architecture. Their ceremony, who was officiated by a friend, was short, sweet, and super emotional. I had Tori sprint up to the balcony after the processional to get some wide overhead shots of the ceremony, and it was TOTALLY worth it. If there’s one thing about me, I’m sending my second up that balcony.
Right after the ceremony, I took Sadie + Noah up to the balcony for some more portraits + a moment alone. My favorite part about this space is the checkered floors. It was kind of giving Twin Peaks, which Noah appreciated.
During cocktail hour, guests mingled and took photos with ANOTHER painted moon backdrop! There were moon + star motifs everywhere, which tied the theme together perfectly. Since we were in Johnstown, they also featured scrumptious mini gob cakes on their cookie table.
After a few toasts, dinner, and (gob) cake cutting, Sadie + Noah shared their first dance to “Fade into You” by Mazzy Star (great choice!). They were perfectly framed by The Grand Halle and all of their loved ones while they danced!
After inviting everyone on to the dance floor with a dollar dance, S + N boogied the night away with their favorite folks. They sang, drank, ate cookies, and even opened up the pit to “Hard in the Paint” (the DJ didn’t have “No Hands”, so he played another Wocka song). Needless to say, it was an unforgettable day for everyone!
