Nabeeha + Jude’s late spring engagement session at The Mellon Institute and Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood was absolutely perfect, despite the rain and a few last-minute changes! The pair originally met in college at the University of Pittsburgh (we were all there at the same time, but never crossed paths!) and wanted to pay homage to their time on campus. Luckily, Oakland has SO many gorgeous locations to choose from.
We started at the Mellon Institute Columns, which is one of my favorite spots for getting that dreamy outdoor light while still sheltering you from the elements! Nabeeha and Jude looked so classy + chic when they rolled up to the building, and Nabeeha’s voluminous blowout added some much appreciated drama and movement to the photos.
We then made our way to Phipps Conservatory, where Jude was planning a surprise! A few days before their session, Jude called me and said he wanted to “propose” a second time with Nabeeha’s wedding ring. A little background: Nabeeha + Jude are Pakistani and Lebanese, so he originally proposed to her in the traditional way where they both wear gold plain bands on their right hand. During their shaadi/wedding, Jude will give her a diamond ring, and they will both switch their rings to their left hand. However, Jude was able to get Nabeeha’s diamond ring before their engagement session, so he had the sweet idea of presenting it to her like he was proposing again – this time, on camera!
We weaved through the early morning crowds of Phipps, taking advantage of the colorful foliage, greenery, and greenhouse architecture. When we got to the Broderie Room, there was a lull in the crowd, and I signaled to Jude that it was time. Nabeeha was thrilled and we had a few glorious, person-free minutes. The rain finally lulled, so we even got to end our session outside!
