Intimate Fall Greenhouse Elopement at The Frick in Pittsburgh

Loren + Joe’s intimate ceremony at The Frick was picture-perfect. These two wanted to celebrate with their closest family and friends in a way that was still thoughtful, beautiful, and intentional while still being fun and low-fuss. I think they absolutely nailed it!!!

When we first chatted, Joe shared that while planning their event with The Frick, they actually took his idea for a micro wedding in front of the greenhouse and turned it into a package! So technically…Loren + Joe’s elopement was the first one! (If you check out their brochure, my photos are in there hehe) I also learned that they met while working at Dick’s Sporting Goods, their proposal happened in Japan, and Joe is very into Runescape. For those of you who don’t know, Logan (AKA Mr. Afternoon Media) is VERY into Runescape. Although to clarify, he plays Old School and Joe does not.

When I arrived on the day of their elopement, it was a slightly brisk, perfectly overcast October evening. I met Loren in the Playhouse (basically a tiny cottage) and took a few detail photos of their super cute invites and rings. The pops of light blue and green contrasted wonderfully against the warm wooden floor. Outside, the greenhouse was set up for the ceremony with glasses of champagne for each guest.

Loren looked absolutely STUNNING in her lacy, off-the-shoulder dress. I love a look that serves drama, and her sleeves, veil, and train really delivered. Joe’s classic B&W look complimented hers + looked very fancy with the rest of the venue.

Before we knew it, guests gathered around the greenhouse and took their seats for the ceremony. Their best friend officiated, and you could feel the love from everyone present! As soon as Loren walked down the aisle, Joe could no longer hold it together. The ceremony was short, yet personal, touching, and a little goofy.

After they tied the knot, they joined their friends and family in a champagne toast provided by The Frick! Guests shared a few words, hugs, photos, and then headed on their way to the reception so Loren and Joe could have some alone time.

After the guests left for dinner, Loren and Joe exchanged private vows in the Orchard under a picturesque oak tree. While it was a little late in the year for the trees to be leafy, the orange and yellow leaves on the ground still looked very pretty. I kept my distance with a zoom lens to give them some privacy but was still blown away by how beautiful of a moment it was!

After sharing their vows, we went inside the greenhouse for portraits. While the vibrant spots of floral color made for amazing photos, it was also very warm in there, which was a bonus. It was getting to be pretty chilly outside!

Soon after, Loren changed into her dress for dinner, which was also much easier to move around in. Loren told me from the beginning that she wanted a photo of Joe spinning her around, so we spun several times to get the perfect shot. The sun was starting to set, so I pulled out my flash and we headed to the Museum’s front steps. They looked SO classy. We had an amazing time frolicking around the gardens, and they went off to party with their favorite folks at Eleven!
