The Backstory
The first time I met Paige was at the Pittsburgh Bridal Expo in November of last year. She was desperate for a re-do of their previous engagement session from a different photographer, who rejected Paige’s request for photos at the Pittsburgh Zoo. To that, I said, “What the heck?!?” Who wouldn’t want to take some ~wild~ engagement photos? I stepped up to the task, while discovering along the way that Paige & Jake actually share mutual friends with me. In fact, to my surprise, one of my closest family friends is Jake’s groomsman!
The Pittsburgh Zoo isn’t just a unique photo op for Paige & Jake. In October 2022, on their second anniversary, Jake proposed in the stingray alcove of the zoo aquarium. It holds a lot of significance to their relationship, so I was more than happy to tag along for a day at the zoo while snapping some cute candids.
Despite the insane humidity, bustling crowds, and my chronic sweatiness, we managed to pull off some pretty amazing shots. Paige was a trooper for spinning around several times, and I am forever thankful to Jake who bought me an ice cold water bottle (even though I lost it in the aquarium). I’m so excited to capture their wedding this October at Grand Vue Park in Moundsville, WV – exactly two years after Jake’s zoo proposal!
