Intimate LGBTQ Elopement at the Allegheny County Courthouse

When V + Lillian first reached out to me for photos of their elopement at the Allegheny County Courthouse, I was so excited!! I love the courthouse, and have always been dying to shoot a weekday elopement there. Despite the political unease that led them to elope this January, V + Lilly had the coziest, sweetest day. Their wintery courthouse ceremony was followed by a laid-back brunch at their apartment with their officiant/best friend + kitties.

While the Allegheny County Courthouse is magical by itself, Christmas decor was still set up on the main staircase, amplifying the cozy winter vibes with evergreens and twinkling lights. Heirloom Floral provided beautiful floral arrangements that were both witchy + wintery, tying together the entire day’s look. They began their ceremony, with just the two of them (plus their officiant, Lindsey) sharing personal stories and intimate vows. There wasn’t a single dry eye in the room!! They were all wearing Doc Martens, and V had actually made her dress the night before!

After V + Lilly said “I do”, they sat down at their altar, complete with personal belongings, crystals, and a Croc. Lilly drew a tarot card – it was the Three of Swords – meaning releasing pain, overcoming sorrow, optimism, and reconciliation. I think this card was a perfect reflection of that current moment; overcoming sorrow and celebrating love in the face of hate and discrimination.

After signing their marriage license, and snapping a few photos around the gorgeous architecture inside the courthouse, we decided to venture outside into the snowy courtyard. To our surprise, a MASSIVE Christmas tree was still set up! After a few chilly minutes, spins, and hugs, it was time to celebrate with some brunch.

Once we got to V + Lilly’s apartment, they took a hit of the marital blunt, as you do. We hung out while Lilly made a delicious french toast brunch, complete with bacon and breakfast potatoes. I made friends with their cats, and the happy newlyweds kept the mimosas flowing.

I appreciate when couples let me in to their intimate moments like this – whether it’s a post-elopement brunch, an at-home engagement session, or getting ready together for their wedding. I’ll let you do your thing while I capture you as you are – 100% in the present.

I’m so overjoyed that I got to be there for V + Lilly’s day. If you’re a couple who wants a low-key, intimate, and truly bespoke elopement, reach out to me! I can help you plan a chill betrothal just like this one – cats optional.
